To become a saddle fitter you need to take the Foundation course to gain basic knowledge. Then you do a minimum of 3 years saddle fitting under the guidance of a Master Saddler and Qualified Saddle Fitter. At the end of the 3 years you take a further four day course with an exam afterwards which includes horse anatomy & confirmation, saddle construction & fitting and rider requirements. Registered Qualified Saddle Fitters are also obliged to take regular Refresher Courses to keep them up to date.
